The Impact of Reading Books on My Life: A Personal Journey
In 2021 and 2022, I read many books, which was a significant shift for me since I never had a habit of reading. Some friends jokingly asked what I had gained from reading, as they didn’t notice any change in me. But I knew the transformations that had taken place within me due to my reading.
Let me share the changes I observed in myself:
- Recognizing My Own Flaws: Reading helped me identify my shortcomings and work on them.
- Understanding Others: I learned the importance of listening over talking and began to understand people better.
- Developing Critical Thinking: Books taught me how to think critically and analytically.
- Understanding the Importance of Goals: I realized the significance of having clear, defined goals.
- Noticing Details: I started observing things around me that I previously overlooked.
- Understanding the Subconscious Mind: I gained insights into how the subconscious mind works.
- Identifying Selfishness: I became more adept at recognizing selfish behavior in others.
- Appreciating the Importance of Knowledge: I understood why acquiring knowledge is crucial.
- Avoiding Arguments: I learned the value of avoiding unnecessary arguments.

If I had developed the habit of reading during my college or university days, it would have been even more beneficial. My journey into reading began with watching animated book summaries on YouTube. Reading books allows you to see things from multiple perspectives. Earlier, I used to offer advice even when it wasn’t asked for, but now I refrain from doing so.
Start reading today! Just as exercise brings about significant physical changes, reading will bring remarkable changes to your mind and perspective.
